The Electrician is responsible for installing and connecting various electrical wiring systems on heavy trucks. The electrician is also responsible for ensuring electrical systems are operating correctly for each unit. Essential duties and responsibilities include installing and connecting various electric wiring systems, installing rough electric conduit and boxes according to blueprints, pulling wires and harnesses through chassis or body, mounting standard and optional equipment and all necessary electrical wiring, conducting functional tests of electrical systems, correcting or adjusting any identified problems, maintaining a safe and clean work environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations, demonstrating effective interpersonal communication skills, and regular attendance is required. Minimum qualifications include six months or more related experience. Preferred qualifications include a High School Diploma or equivalent education, technical degree/certificate in Automotive Technology, Diesel, Electro-Mechanical or related field or experience in automotive or truck electrical repair and diagnostics, demonstrated experience using various small and pneumatic hand tools, knowledge of AC/DC electricity, and ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, shop orders, and computer ordering and inventory programs. Other physical requirements include the ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations, specific vision abilities, sense of sound and balance, limb and finger dexterity, ability to stand for extended periods, perform twisting, turning, bending, climbing, pushing, and pulling motions, lift at least 35lbs, and wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
