Position Summary:

The  Esports Event Director is responsible for leading the planning, execution, and management of high-profile esports events and tournaments. This position ensures operational excellence, creative impact, and flawless event execution, working cross-functionally with production, marketing, partnerships, broadcast, and venue teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Event Strategy & Leadership

  • Oversee end-to-end execution of live and online esports events, including creative vision, logistics, staffing, and execution.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define event goals, audience experience, KPIs, and content strategy.
  • Lead pre-event planning and post-event evaluation with timelines, debriefs, and improvement plans.

Team & Talent Management

  • Manage internal event teams, contractors, casters, hosts, referees, and stage talent for Esports related events.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for Esport event partners, sponsors, and talent during show execution.

Logistics & Production Oversight

  • Work with production and technical teams to manage stage design, show flow, run-of-show, venue build-outs, and rehearsals.
  • Coordinate technical needs such as gaming equipment, audio/visual, lighting, and internet requirements.
  • Maintain budgets and ensure events are executed on time and within financial parameters.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Partner with marketing to align brand messaging, promotional campaigns, and community engagement.
  • Collaborate with business development and sponsorship teams to integrate partner assets and activations.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols, insurance requirements, and legal/regulatory standards.

Qualifications:

  • 5–7+ years of experience managing live esports or entertainment events.
  • Proven success directing large-scale events with multiple stakeholders, departments, and sponsors.
  • Strong understanding of esports ecosystems, competitive formats, and gaming communities.
  • Skilled in project management tools and event budgeting.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel and work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as required.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience working with top-tier esports publishers (e.g., Riot, Activision Blizzard, Valve, etc.).
  • Familiarity with broadcast production workflows and tournament administration platforms.
  • Prior experience with venue management or arena-based productions is a plus.
